During cold and pollen seasons, radio presenter Suvi Hartlin looks after her most important instrument with the help of the WellO2 breathing training device.
For Suvi Hartlin, whose work revolves around radio, her voice is her most valuable tool. A bad cold or pollen-related symptoms can easily mean time off work.
According to Suvi, her colds often affect her chest, with symptoms lingering and coughing keeping her awake at night. Her daughter is also prone to similar issues.
“Then you add pollen season into the mix – it causes congestion on its own and also makes you more susceptible to catching colds.”
Over the past winter, Suvi’s family has started using the WellO2 breathing training device. Her goal is to keep her lungs in as good condition as possible through prevention.
“I use the device regularly to open up my lungs, even when I’m healthy. Breathing with it in the mornings really helps clear things out after the night.”
Easy to use and suitable for everyone
WellO2 is a Finnish innovation – a breathing training device that combines resistance training for both inhalation and exhalation muscles with warm steam inhalation. The training supports respiratory wellbeing in several ways by helping to open and clear the lungs, as well as strengthen breathing.
Using the device is very straightforward. It features continuously adjustable breathing resistance, making it suitable for everyone. The steam temperature can also be selected from three settings to match individual needs and preferences.
“I did read the instructions out of principle, but you quickly understand how to use it anyway. I also appreciate that it only uses regular water vapour – it feels safe,” Suvi says.

Supporting wellbeing in many ways
The WellO2 device is designed to support the wellbeing of the airways and lungs in a versatile, drug-free way. It can help improve respiratory muscle strength, reduce shortness of breath, moisturise the airways, ease irritation, and reduce snoring while improving sleep quality. It may also support performance and recovery in sports.
WellO2 training is suitable for anyone – whether for prevention or for maintaining general lung wellbeing. Based on her own experience, Suvi recommends it as a smart addition to everyday life for anyone dealing with respiratory challenges.
“Based on my experience, I’d especially recommend it during pollen and urban air pollution seasons, and of course for those who tend to catch seasonal colds easily,” she concludes.
